SUMMARY :

Under the supervision of the Nutrition Education Manager, Nutrition Education Coordinators will provide localized nutrition and health education in various community settings and environments. Following company and state-instituted policies and curriculum, Nutrition Education Coordinators will work to identify partners and opportunities to connect with neighbors in need and provide nutrition and health education relevant to the needs and strategies identified in Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. Nutrition Education Coordinators will assist in the development of nutrition materials, recipes, cooking demonstrations and videos, and other materials needed to reach target audiences. Nutrition Education Coordinators will continuously participate in program improvement and evaluation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Implementation & Coordination Administer and coordinate nutrition education programs to ensure effective delivery and alignment with AFFB’s goals Manage the day-to-day logistics of program operations, including scheduling, resource preparation, and transportation of materials Collaborate with internal teams and community partners to meet program goals and improve outreach Education and Engagement Deliver engaging, evidence-based nutrition education sessions using AFFB-approved curricula Lead cooking demonstrations and hands-on learning experiences for adults and families Adapt lessons and supporting materials to meet the needs of different audiences Support development of recipes, printed materials, and digital content (videos, handouts, etc.) Community Outreach & Partnerships Represent AFFB in the community to build relationships with partner organizations Identify new partners for education programming and contribute to expanding the program’s reach Coordinate with host sites and partners to ensure the successful implementation of program activities Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and support volunteers for nutrition programming Evaluation & Reporting Collect and input data to evaluate program impact and effectiveness Conduct 6-month follow-up surveys Assist the Nutrition Education Manager with monthly program reporting Participate in continuous program improvement through feedback, innovation, and collaboration

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing Demonstrated experience working in low-income, culturally diverse community settings and a basic understanding of the challenges and barriers faced when individuals and families seek assistance Demonstrated experience and skills with public speaking, including giving group presentations and training workshops with diverse audiences Must work independently, creatively, and be self-motivated Strong time management and organizational skills Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including some evenings and occasional weekends This position requires 70% of the time spent in the field conducting educational programming Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly facility, adhering to all food safety standards and regulations Other duties as assigned according to the role and mission Committed to serving vulnerable populations to end hunger in the community served by AFFB Acceptance of and commitment to AFFB’s values, vision, and mission

WORKING CONDITIONS

Moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Must be able to remain standing or sitting for the majority of the shift Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required in education, nutrition, public health, or related field At least 2 years’ experience in community health, community education, non-profits, nutrition or other relevant social service experience Demonstrated ability in both written and verbal communication and public speaking Ability to effectively communicate with individuals of diverse socio-economic and educational backgrounds Ability to think creatively and strategically, both individually and as part of a team Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and car insurance. Willingness to travel up to 60 miles one way for class locations in Sarasota and DeSoto Counties Demonstrated cooking knowledge and skill is preferred Training/teaching experience Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
