JOB DESCRIPTION JOB GOAL
To provide facilitation, leadership, district direction and coordination for the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating for the Manatee County curriculum, instruction, and classroom assessment in order to support schools in attaining and maintaining high student achievement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field. Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience. Valid Florida Teaching Certificate in an appropriate area. Demonstrated leadership skills. Experience in analysis of assessment data. Valid Florida driver’s License. Other qualifications as deemed necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of research, current trends and best practices in assigned area(s) of responsibility. Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from teachers, administrators and the general public. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific fields and communicate graphically. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and school Board policies and to foster coordination and cooperation among staff. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership, oversight and direction of K-12 curriculum and instruction in assigned content or program areas. Initiate the development of goals and objectives within the scope of School Board policy as it relates to the curriculum and instruction. Foster the development, implementation, evaluation and updating of curriculum and instructional practices. Contribute to the development of curricula that meets diverse student needs. Coordinate the implementation of an effective instructional scope and sequence. Provide for curriculum articulation between schools and among grade levels. Encourage the integration of content areas. Analyze and utilize assessment data to improve curricula and student performance. Facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of staff development activities to support teachers with successful and innovative strategies for classroom instruction and assessment, updating content knowledge, and knowledge of District curriculum. Disseminate information and current research to appropriate personnel. Work cooperatively with other team members to facilitate collaborative planning as it relates to curriculum and instruction. Meet deadlines with severe time constraints and frequently work irregular and extended hours. Assist in the interpretation of programs, philosophy, and policies of the District to staff, students, and the community. Respond to inquiries of concerns in a timely manner. Work closely with District and school staffs to support school improvement initiatives and processes. Keep well-informed about current trends, research, and best practices, including participating successful in the training programs offered to increase the individual’s skill and proficiency related to the assignment. Supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals and make recommendations for appropriate employment action. Prepare or oversee the preparation of all required reports and maintain appropriate records. Serve on District, state or community councils or committees as assigned or appropriate. Consistently represent the District in a positive and professional manner. Utilize appropriate strategies and problem-solving tools to make decisions concerning planning, utilization of funds, delivering services and evaluation of services provided. Assist in implementing the District’s goals and strategic commitments. Demonstrate initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement and take appropriate action. Use appropriate styles and methods to motivate, gain commitment, and facilitate task accomplishment. Perform other duties consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
