This role involves working closely with residents, the educational staff and the treatment team to ensure educational continuity and success. Specific Responsibilities•

Academic Support:

Deliver classroom instruction to students based on teachers’ guidance and adhering to their Individualized Educational Programs (IEP’s). Set and clearly communicate specific objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, ensuring effective implementation. Provide support across various content areas with confidence. Maintain regular communication with teachers about student progress, adding students in keeping up with coursework and reporting any concerns to the Special Education team. Effectively support classroom lessons through providing 1:1 or small group focused instruction. Support vocational and life skills instruction for students with functional needs. Provide trauma-informed behavioral support to students, utilizing de-escalation techniques, reinforcing positive behavior, and collaborating with educators and clinicians to maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment. Provide classroom coverage and instructional support for teachers during absences, maintaining instructional continuity by following lesson plans, supporting student engagement, and managing classroom routines. Serve as the lead teacher for academic support classes, providing targeted instruction, organization support, and skill-building opportunities to help students in grade 6-12 meet their educational goals and classroom expectation. Foster a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Program Development Work collaboratively with Education staff to create and implement educational workshops, activities, special events, and programs to enhance residents learning experiences. Collaborate with the treatment team to integrate educational goals with therapeutic objectives Stay updated on educational best practices and incorporate them into the program.
  • Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of residents’ academic progress, attendance, and achievements.

Collect and document behavioral and academic data to support IEP progress monitoring, ensuring consistent tracking of student goals, informing team decisions, and contributing to quarterly and annual IEP reviews. Prepare reports and updates to the treatment team Ensure all documentation complies with organizational policies and regulatory requirements Performance Expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social work, or related degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an educational setting, preferable working with at-risk youth or in a residential treatment program.
  • Strong Knowledge of educational practices and curriculum development
  • Strong Knowledge of math and ELA intervention strategies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and tools.
  • Bilingual (Preferred)
