Special Education Certification Teaching Full Job Description Melmark Overview:

Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders.

Curriculum Coordinator Overview:

The Curriculum Coordinator ensures the delivery of high-quality, individualized educational services that align with each student’s IEP. This role is key in supporting student progress through the development of standards-based lesson plans, individualized instruction using ABA methodologies, and data-driven assessment. The Curriculum Coordinator collaborates closely with educators and clinicians to maintain regulatory compliance and promote best practices in curriculum design, instruction, and progress monitoring. This is a dynamic role that supports both educational excellence and clinical integrity across student programming.

Schedule and Salary Information:

Monday through Friday schedule; occasional flexibility required Salary commensurate with experience starting at $85,000/year

Requirements:

Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or Behavior Analysis (required) Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) at the Master’s level (required); Doctoral-level BCBA (preferred) Special Education Administrator license or Severe Disabilities Teacher license in Massachusetts (preferred) Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, ABA, and supervision in a special education setting

Curriculum Coordinator Responsibilities:

Develop and support the implementation of IEPs, ensuring alignment with MA Curriculum Frameworks and Alternate Assessment guidelines Provide direct curriculum consultation, training, and oversight to special education staff Facilitate three IEP planning meetings per student and ensure timely, high-quality IEP development and progress reporting Approve and monitor all curricula in the MEDS system; ensure lesson plans are in place within 10 days of IEP meetings Support and train staff on data collection, instructional design, and implementation fidelity Monitor student progress through data reviews and ensure goals are being met through curriculum and teaching adjustments Oversee state testing procedures and guide teams in assessment tool selection and use Contribute to professional development efforts through in-service training and coaching Provide direct care or classroom coverage as needed and support new admissions Participate in broader educational, clinical, and administrative projects as assigned
