Job Description:
The Employment and Education Specialist
ACT/ACT TAY/STEPS
(Assertive Community Treatment & Transitional-Aged Youth/Shape, Teach, Evolve, Prepare, Support) will help expand educational and vocational opportunities for persons with psychiatric disabilities by providing individualized, community-based and integrated employment and educational supports. This is a full-time, benefit eligible position working Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Responsibilities Include:
Directly assist consumers in their home and their community to choose, obtain and maintain competitive employment. Participates in engagement, vocational assessment, job development, job placement, job coaching and benefits counseling Identify, cultivate and document community employment opportunities Assist to measure employer and consumer satisfaction on a regular basis Appropriate documentation and recording within the case record according to policy Assist some consumers in completing or returning to school or a higher education learning opportunity as individuals desire indicates Assist the team by helping them develop supported employment approaches with consumers in the team, and attending all wellness plan meetings for consumers with employment or educational goals Provide services with a flexible schedule and on-call rotation including nighttime, evening and weekend hours Driving is an essential function of this position to allow for service provision and/or consumer assistance in the community as needed Other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS & EXPOSURE RISK
Operating vehicles or machinery High School/GED required Associate’s•, Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a human-services related field preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
At least four (4) years of experience required if a High School/GED is the highest education obtained At least two (2) years of experience required if an Associate’s degree is the highest education obtained
(•If the degree is an Associate’s of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support from an approved institution; then no additional experience is required) At least one (1) year of experience required if a non-human service Bachelor’s degree is the highest education obtained All experience must include working with individuals with psychiatric, substance use, and/or developmental disabilities A valid driver’s license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required Compass Health Network is a nonprofit health care organization offering accessible, comprehensive, & compassionate behavioral health, substance use treatment, family medicine and dental services throughout Missouri.
