INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT FOR ALL SCHOOLS

Focused on students who qualify for exceptional children services in the areas of: Classroom and Curriculum Coaching/Support, Professional Development, Targeted Student Support, and Behavior Support. Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Reports to Exceptional Children Director Essential Functions Assist case managers to create case management procedures Conduct classroom visits, provide feedback and coaching Observe students to identify strategies to improve learning, behavior, teaching, etc. Assist teachers and schools with referral processes for centralized programs Utilize technology for training and teacher support Remain current on instructional best practices (curriculum, strategies, assessments, data, etc.) Assist with fidelity of program implementation Complete data collection tasks as assigned Facilitate and monitor headcount Develop and provide Professional Development Provide support regarding sound instructional practice in legal situations Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Extensive knowledge of strategies, methodologies, philosophies, and curriculums for students who access both the Common Core and the Extensions of the Common Core State Standards. Coaching and consultation with school personnel specially designed instruction, specific strategies, data collection, modeling, and progress modeling. Collaboration and problem-solving skills to address students with unique needs with school administrators, general education teachers, EC Compliance Liaisons, EC teachers, and related services personnel. Ability to develop and deliver excellent professional development. Education Experience Bachelor’s degree with coursework in special education, or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Physical Requirements This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force. Work regularly requires standing and speaking or hearing, frequently requires walking, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and reaching with hands and arms; work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities. Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment. Special Requirements North Carolina Teacher Certification or State Licensure in related field.
