Job Summary:

The Continuing Education Provider Department’s mission is to provide quality assurance of continuing education (CE) programs and providers that enable graduate-level counselors to maintain, develop, and increase professional competencies. Housed within the Credentialing and Quality Assurance Division, the department ensures that only organizations who offer NBCC credit for qualifying CE programs meet and maintain a high level of quality in content, development, delivery, documentation, and all other aspects needed for effective, evidence-based programming. The Continuing Education Specialist (CE) is responsible for evaluating CE program content, provider eligibility, and Continuing Education Provider Policy (Policy) compliance. The CE Specialist will also engage in regular communications with providers and applicants delivering timely reviews. The CE Specialist provides constructive feedback to enhance departmental processes and participates in team discussions aimed at continual improvement, consistency, and quality assurance across all reviews. The CE Specialist leads service development initiatives by collaborating with NBCC Affiliates and Approved Continuing Education Providers (ACEPs) to support the development and implementation of new CE opportunities. These initiatives may include the development of marketing strategies, creating CE training packages, and partnering with CCE Academy. The goal is to foster further engagement with ACEPs and credential holders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The CE Specialist is responsible for reviewing all assigned provider applications and audits within the CE Provider Services Department. The CE Specialist will also assist with advancing the ACEP program through thoughtful program service development initiatives and strategic collaboration with NBCC affiliates, other NBCC departments, CCE Academy, and stakeholders. The following responsibilities and duties are a summary of the essential roles and functions of the position. Other duties may be performed as needed or requested to achieve department, division, and/or organizational goals. Reviews Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) applications for ACEP status. Reviews Single Program approval applications. Assists with reviews of ACEP Audits. Assists with reviews of Single Program Audits. Drafts clear, professionally written communication and decision letters to applicants, ACEPs, and others. Engages in verbal communication with applicants, ACEPs, and other stakeholders. Develops proposals to support CE service development initiatives. Collaborates with NBCC affiliates, internal NBCC teams, CCE Academy, and external stakeholders to create innovative opportunities that enhance ACEP benefits and increase value for

credential holders. Works directly with the CE Director to develop and implement newly approved services. Operates virtual communication platforms, including telephone and video conferencing. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with an emphasis in mental health, social work, human services, higher education, or accreditation required. Minimum two (2) years’ related experience and/or training in mental health, social work, human services, higher education, or accreditation required. Related experience and/or training in program and/or service development. Working knowledge of counseling theories, diagnoses, and practices. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Proficient with Microsoft Office and related technology communication platforms.

Preferred Education/Experience:

Master’s degree with an emphasis in mental health, social work, human services, higher education, or accreditation preferred. Familiarity with graduate-level counseling and counseling regulatory standards. Two (2) years’ related experience in regulation and/or policy compliance preferred.

Equipment/Programs Used:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Working knowledge of the internet, company databases, and queries.
