Principal and Digital Learning Instructional Coordinator PURPOSE:
To promote the use of technologies to support student achievement in the K-12 classroom. The Digital Learning Specialist provides leadership, professional development, and instructional support to all instructional and administrative staff.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Collaborates with teachers and other instructional staff to develop curriculum materials and specific lesson plans that integrate technology.
Collaborates with all Digital Learning Specialists to promote and share best practices. Models the integration of technology and creation in all curriculum areas. Facilitates school participation in the district’s digital learning initiative. Develops and conducts school and district professional development for the district’s digital learning initiative.
Collaborates with teachers to plan lessons, teach lessons and provide feedback on lessons integrating technology and student creation. Collaborates with the school library media coordinator to provide leadership in the school’s use of instructional resources to enhance learning.
Follows a plan for professional development and actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.
Implements best practices related to the district’s digital learning initiative based on research and state standards.
Works with teachers in the selection and evaluation of resources that are compatible with the district’s digital learning initiative. Adheres to and communicates copyright and digital citizenship as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources. Provides leadership and collaborates with the Digital Learning Team and School Improvement Team to develop, implement, and update the School Improvement
Plan aligned with the district’s digital learning initiative. Leads in the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the district’s digital learning initiative.
Serves as liaison between the school and district digital learning staff.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of administrative tasks in coordinating the successful implementation of district initiatives, programs, and curriculum as aligned with North Carolina Standard Course Study. The employee is responsible for interpreting changes to the North Carolina Curriculum, informing teachers and principals of the implications of those changes, and ensuring that instruction is aligned with curriculum goals. Employee coaches teachers in developing strategies and techniques for assessing and increasing student achievement. Employee also assists teachers with materials selection as needed
and provides teachers with various tools and resources to aid instruction. Employee assists administrators with evaluating the effectiveness of initiatives implementation and develops strategies for instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s of School Administration preferred
Master’s Degree in the field of Education preferred and/or extensive course work in education
Must be certified to teach in the State of North Carolina and hold a current North Carolina Professional Educators License and must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License
Five to seven years of teaching experience including program coordination and delivery of professional development

Ensures teachers and principals are familiar with any changes to the North Carolina Curriculum; designs curriculum, new course offerings and guidelines for student placement.
Assist with the development of district assessment tools.
Assists the school system with the acquisition of appropriate textbooks, teacher guides and other instructional materials and equipment.
Keeps parents, administrators and community citizens informed about various district initiatives to resolve educational issues.
Schedules and conducts meetings for school contacts as assigned.
Participates in regularly scheduled departmental meetings as required.
Collaborates with other curriculum specialists and academic coaches to provide an integrated program.
Provides support to teachers in their classrooms through coaching, modeling, and mentoring.
Meets and communicates with Curriculum Facilitators and principals to discuss the program progress and needs.
Performs other related work as required.
