until filled The Special Education Reading Specialist provides targeted reading instruction and intervention to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) who require additional literacy support. Working with elementary and/or middle school students, the Reading Specialist delivers research-based instruction in all components of reading—phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension—through individualized and small group sessions. This role involves assessing students’ reading abilities, interpreting assessment data, and developing instructional plans aligned with IEP goals. The Reading Specialist collaborates closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to adapt curriculum and implement effective reading strategies. Additional responsibilities include monitoring student progress, providing professional development and coaching to staff, and serving as a resource to the Child Study Team and school community. The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise in literacy instruction, a commitment to inclusive education, and the ability to foster a supportive learning environment that addresses the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
Qualifications:
Valid NJ Elementary K-6 certificate is required; and Valid NJ Middle School Specialization (Math) is required; and (Co-Cerificate) Valid NJ Teacher of Students w/ Disabilities certificate is required. (Co-Certificate) or Teacher of the Handicapped Teacher of Math paired with NJ Teacher of Students w/ Disabilities. Strong foundational background knowledge in social studies required.

Salary Range:
