Instructional Math Coach Scituate School Department Hope, RI 02831
Job Summary:
The instructional coach is responsible for providing personalized support to teachers, fostering professional development,and enhancing instructional practices. The goal is to improve student learning outcomes by promoting effective teachingstrategies and ensuring the alignment of curriculum and instruction with educational standards. Additionally, theinstructional coach works with classroom teachers as a team to promote reflective practices, data-driven instruction. Thisis not a supervisory position and does NOT include evaluation of staff. Qualified candidates will be interviewed.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support:
Build strong relationships with teachers and administrators. Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback to teachers. Collaborate with teachers to analyze student data and develop strategies to address learning gaps. Model effective teaching practices in classrooms to demonstrate instructional strategies. Co-teach lessons as needed to model new pedagogy and instructional strategies. Allocate time and resources to reflect with teachers and advocate for support and resources as needed. Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selectionof best practices to meet the diverse needs of students.
Curriculum Implementation:
Assist in the development, alignment, and review of curriculum to ensure it meets state standards and SchoolDepartment goals. Support the integration of technology and innovative instructional methods into the curriculum.
Partnership and Collaboration:
Serve as a thought partner to new and experienced teachers, providing guidance and support in instructionalpractices. Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement among staff. Work collaboratively with administrators and other instructional coaches to align goals and strategies across theSchool Department.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Collect and analyze data related to student performance and instructional effectiveness. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders. Use data to inform and adjust coaching strategies and professional development efforts.
Professional Development:
Design and deliver professional development sessions on components of learning walk which are highlighted tobe supported. Support teachers in the development and implementation of lesson plans that reflect best practices and SchoolDepartment goals. Facilitate workshops, seminars, and collaborative planning sessions to promote continuous professional growth.
Other Duties:
Stay current with educational research, trends, and best practices. Participate in School Department and school meetings, committees, and professional learning communities. Assist the school principal in creating an equitable and well-articulated coaching schedule, mission and goal. Contribute to the development of systems and structures to improve teacher practices within the school. Provide a weekly log of coaching documents. Perform other related duties as assigned by the superintendent or designated administrator.
Qualifications:
Education:
Valid RI Elementary Teacher certification required Math Content specialist certificate preferred Masters degree in Education, Curriculum, Instruction or related field
Experience:
Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience with a highly effective rating. Demonstrated successful experience in instructional coaching. Experience with RIDE provided PD in instructional coaching. Experience in using the Eureka curriculum and pedagogy preferred. Evidence of improved student outcomes and closing achievement gaps in previous roles.

Strong disposition of curiosity and openness Strong knowledge of effective instructional strategies and best practices Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Ability to analyze data and use it to inform instructional practices Proficiency with educational technology and digital tools Strong organizational and time-management skills
Working Conditions:
This position typically works in a school environment. The instructional coach may need to travel between schools within the School Department. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for professional development sessions or meetings inaccordance with the collective bargaining agreement with the Scituate Teacher Association.
