Position Description Advertised Job Summary This individual will be a part of the CTE instructional design team and assist with the design, development, and delivery of courses on the USC-Columbia campus, Palmetto College campuses, and Schools of Medicine (Columbia and Greenville). This position assists with creating shared resources and provides professional development opportunities for faculty and Graduate Teaching Assistants. This position is located on the Columbia campus and would be expected to work on campus. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in instructional design or related field. Minimum of two years of experience in course development in a higher education setting. One year of teaching experience at the collegiate level. Advanced working knowledge of the Blackboard Learning Management System. Experience with providing professional development opportunities for educators in a higher education setting. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty and GTAs (in various disciplines in higher education) to assist with the design of high-quality courses. Ability to work with clients with a wide range of technological experience. Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Knowledge of current trends in pedagogy, instructional design, and distributed learning. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work independently. Ability to work on a team to coordinate projects and share information. Job Duties Job Duty Consult with faculty and GTAs on pedagogy and course design, development, delivery and instructional technologies that promote best practices.
