DESCRIPTION
: The Cultural Education Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a Catawba Cultural curriculum for all children enrolled in the Boys and Girls Club of Catawba Indian Nation which serves elementary school age children and continues through grade 12. As a dedicated and passionate individual knowledgeable about the Catawba Nation’s rich culture and history, the Cultural Education Specialist works closely with program managers, youth development professionals, and staff to coordinate daily activities that provide continuous education on the Catawba culture and traditions. The Cultural Education Specialist also provides support to the Behavioral Health department through integrating cultural support, prevention, and guidance for the IOP Program. This position reports to the Site Manager of Boys & Girls Club of CIN and Director of Behavioral Health. This position is responsible for and subject to the CIN Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Plan and implement age-appropriate cultural classes for the Boys and Girls Club of Catawba Indian Nation. Develop written cultural curriculum for use in afterschool and summer programs at Suuk Sarak and Suuk Yap. Prepare lesson plans and projects to educate youth on the Catawba culture and traditions. Order materials needed for any lessons/projects. Works with Site Managers to create a cultural class schedule for youth enrolled in summer programs at the Boys and Girls Club of Catawba. Works with other tribal divisions to provide high-quality cultural education opportunities for our youth. Providing cultural support and guidance to IOP members on different stages of recovery. Lead group recovery meetings and discussions for the IOP program. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or GED required. Must possess a Valid State Driver’s License and be insurable under the Nation’s insurance policy. Prior experience working with youth. 1-2 years prior experience teaching/public presenting. CPR and First Aid Certification required.
