Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Performing Arts, or a related field Teaching certification or equivalent experience in dance instruction. Reports To Principal Job Summary The Dance Teacher is responsible for instructing students in various dance styles, techniques, and choreography while fostering a passion for movement and artistic expression. This position is responsible for providing high-quality dance education, creating engaging choreography, and overseeing all aspects of the semester dance showcases. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, creative, and able to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment while upholding the vision of the Clover Dance Department. Performance Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Development Develop and implement engaging weekly lesson plans for all dance classes, ensuring a balance of technique, choreography, and dance theory. Teach various dance styles, including jazz, contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, and musical theatre, based on student and program needs. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse skill levels of students. Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teacher’s expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment. Assesses student progress, expectations, goals, etc. for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration. Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum. Demonstrates methods required to perform assignments for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students. Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined course of study. Monitors student activities (e.g. classroom, lunch, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of providing for the safety and welfare of students. Participates in various meetings for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information. Prepares teaching materials and related reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and documenting student progress. Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to education code, administrative and/or school policies. Other duties as assigned. Choreography & Performance Coordination Choreograph routines for class performances, semester showcases, and school-wide events. Ensure all performances align with the Clover Dance Department’s vision and maintain high artistic and technical standards. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Strong background in choreography, production, and performance management. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Teach various dance styles (e.g., ballet, jazz, modern, hip-hop, contemporary, etc.). Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state and district standards. Proficiency in music editing software (such as GarageBand, Audacity, or Adobe Audition) and AV technology. Assess and evaluate students’ progress and provide constructive feedback. Work Context May include teaching in dance studios, auditoriums, or gymnasiums. Requires physical stamina for demonstrating and instructing dance movements. Requires standing. Requires walking. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people. Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and working outdoors. Terms of Employment 190 days per school year; Salary based on District Scale for Teachers.
