Job Description
Special Education LTS – Grade 6 Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District 96 Howland Road, Lakeville, MA 02347 The students, staff and administration of Freetown Lakeville Middle School are excited to build our team of educators. The mission of Freetown-Lakeville Middle School is to help each student develop into a respectful, responsible and resilient individual while acquiring the knowledge and skills to become a positive and active contributor to society.
We are seeking a facilitator of learning, who enjoys teaching in a student centered, learning environment. Our special education teachers are passionate about teaching their curriculum and are able to relate concepts and principles to students’ everyday lives. They implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for all students and plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
Position Objective:
This Long Term Substitute Grade 6 Special Education position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards and the rules and regulations of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District. This position is for the duration of the 2025/26 school year.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for remaining up to date regarding curriculum contentResponsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instructionResponsible for mentoring students understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriateResponsible for effective management of the classroom environmentResponsible for effective instruction, which includes making learning goals clear to the students, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniquesResponsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learnResponsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement.
Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student earning, including, for implementing specific strategies for students with special needs, with 504 plans andor second language learnersResponsible for providing equal educational to all individual regardless of race, color, gender, age, religion, gender identity, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or homelessnessPerformance of other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Massachusetts DESE license in Special Education (grades 5-8)
SEI EndorsementBA DegreePreferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience in the content areaDemonstrated experience supporting students with special needsExperience teaching students who are English language learnersCandidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years) Candidates will need to apply for and pay for the DESE license as a condition of employmentThank you for your interest in our position at Freetown Lakeville Middle School. Salary & Terms of Employment:
