Job Description The Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement (CLCE) at USF is one of nine entities reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs•Dean of Students within the Vice President for Students Success portfolio. The CLCE intends to become content experts and community connectors in support of the USF leadership and civic engagement initiatives. The CLCE trains, educates, and develops USF community members to be effective, ethical, and positively engaged leaders among the global community. The CLCE envisions each USF student as an educated and empowered catalyst for positive social change. Toward this aim, we are seeking colleagues who will mirror our positively restless, solution focused, collaborative mentality as we build human capacity informed by leadership theory and research. On a daily basis the CLCE staff operationalizes data driven, outcomes focused, civic engagement and leadership initiatives supported by assessment and informed by current leadership and civic engagement literature, including the Leadership Identity Development Model, the Active Citizens Continuum, UNSDGs, and related leadership theories and models. The Student Development Coordinator is an entry-level professional within the CLCE who, under the supervision of the Associate Director, is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of civically-connected leadership training, education, and development initiatives that contribute to student success. The Student Development Coordinator position necessitates a detail-focused, student-centered, team-oriented individual who will support the CLCE as we elevate initiatives along, at least, one of three dimensions: global scope, audience capacity, or longitudinal time frame. Operating from our mental framework, and in support of our leadership and civic engagement outcomes, new initiatives will satisfy outcome deficiencies; student interest; engage collaboratively with USF partners and the Tampa Bay community; align with internal partners; and explicitly connect to external barometers. Responsibilities
Operationalize the CLCE’s data driven, outcomes focused, leadership and civic engagement-connected approach to assessment that includes regular and ongoing formative, process, and summative data collection and analysis of our work.
Own, or support, the development (e.g. program design, resource management, risk and liability management, training, and assessment) and implementation (e.g. asynchronous, synchronous, online, and in-person delivery) of the following CLCE initiatives:
Student organization officer and advisor training (e.g. new organization development, succession planning/ officer transitions, leading effective meetings, financial and liability management, member recruitment/retention, leadership development, etc.).
Monthly service opportunities (e.g. Stampede of Service, National Days of Service, UN SDG aligned experiences).
Democratic engagement and civic learning (e.g. Voter Friendly Campus, Constitution Day).
Speaker Series (e.g. Civic Conversation Series, Bulls & Banter, Lunchtime Leadership Series, etc.).
Involvement Fairs (e.g. Community partners, Student organizations, BullsConnect Day).
Domestic alternative break experiences (e.g. Bull Service Breaks).
Emerging Leaders Institute First Year program.
Celebration of Leadership Awards and Golden Bull.
Support the promotion of, and training for, these experiences using a campus-wide community management system (e.g. BullsConnect) and CLCE-managed facilities (e.g. Collaboratory, Training Room, and Conference Room).
Supervise, train, and develop student assistants, including HR processes (e.g. recruitment, timesheets, etc.). Supervision of graduate assistants and interns is possible.
Supporting the implementation of CLCE aligned partner events (e.g. Week of Welcome, Intercultural Leadership Conference, etc.).
Serve on relevant campus committees (e.g. Student Affairs staff committees, Event Support Team, Homecoming, BullsVote, etc.) with approval from supervisor. Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, representing the CLCE as needed at CLCE and university events.
