Key responsibilities include developing and overseeing a Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Research, establishing staff training programs, developing student learning centers and labs, designing ongoing education and training for faculty, staff, and students, managing instructional and curriculum design across programs, leading technology planning, overseeing complex projects, managing the departmental budget, and supervising personnel and resources. Essential Functions Promotes a campus culture that values and recognizes the importance of teaching excellence and active student learning by designing and developing faculty initiatives that foster collaboration, scholarship, curricular innovation, and adoption of best practices. Oversees adjunct/part-time faculty orientation and mentoring. Facilitates faculty course evaluations, assist in managing repository for assessment plans, and develops comprehensive plan for peer faculty mentoring to foster a collaborative and high-quality teaching environment. Establishes and directs the College’s Strategic Technology Plan to align with the College’s mission and strategic goals and initiatives. Justifies, prioritizes, and effectively implements strategic technology-related capital projects and operating budgets based on short- and long-term forecasting, data analysis, and organizational needs. Provides leadership in exploring, assessing, and piloting emerging technologies and software platforms to enhance student learning and retention as well as operational efficiencies of the campus community. Negotiates master service agreements for current and new technology solutions and ensures that contracts and invoices are submitted in a timely and accurate manner. Leads transformation in the use of technology solutions by securing approval through architecture governance bodies and serving as the campus project manager for deployment and support. Provides leadership and manages the technology and instructional design personnel who support faculty and students in teaching and learning. Provides instructional design support and pedagogical expertise for innovative teaching and learning strategies to plan, design, re-design, build, and support all web-enhanced, hybrid, and online courses and programs. Develops and revises policies and procedures relevant to distance education to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, and state and national regulations including SARA. Designs and upgrades active and collaborative learning spaces in consultation with faculty and administration. Develops and maintains relationships across Advocate/Atrium Healthcare System to maximize potential for resource sharing, collaborative projects, and opportunities to create efficiencies as appropriate. Education, Experience and Certifications Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Information Design, or related discipline. At least two years related experience in postsecondary online course design and delivery. Expertise and experience with learning management systems. Experience in teaching, training, and designing postsecondary instruction. Knowledge of trends for emerging teaching and learning technologies. Knowledge of best practices in online pedagogy, course design, and faculty development Experience in managing personnel, resources, projects, and budgets.
