Employment Goals:

1. Identify, develop, and coordinate program policies and procedures in accordance with ORMA’s mission, program goals, and administrative direction. 2. Plan, organize, and present instruction that helps students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development in a college preparatory environment. 3. Help increase training for faculty in meaningfully integrating accommodations within the classroom that support students with LDs or OHs. 4. Support classroom teachers with some accommodations outside the classroom, such as test read-aloud or extended time allotments. 5. Consult with parents, faculty, administrators, and the community to enhance the learning of students. 6. Aid in the admissions decision-making process for students with LDs, OHs, etc. to ensure that ORMA can serve that potential student and what services they may need if admitted. 7. Develop and implement Cadet Achievement Plans (CAP) for students with LDs or OHs that can otherwise navigate the college preparatory curriculum and a military school and/or boarding school environment. Use diagnostic information obtained from tests and other assessment processes to update CAPs as needed. 8. Communicate with parents regarding their child’s educational progress via periodic written progress reports and/or CAP meetings. 9. Effectively support student academic needs with a goal of reducing or eliminating CAP supports over time as students reduce learning or developmental deficits.

Qualifications:

1. A bachelor’s degree in special education or a relevant field is required, master’s degree preferred 2. Certification in EC Education for K-12 students or similar certification required 3. Certification in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or other related reading programs is preferred 4. Demonstrated leadership experience as a classroom teacher 5. Experience in program development and implementation preferred 6. Very comfortable differentiating instruction for needs of students while maintaining rigorous college preparatory standards 7. Educational philosophy and worldview consistent with the mission and goals of ORMA 8. Experience in the use of technology for instruction 9. Excellent oral and written communication skills 10. A criminal history background check, including driver’s record, is required of all employees. Additional checks may occur on a regular basis. 11. A drug test is required of all employees. Additional tests may be required on a regular basis. 12. Federal law requires all employers to verify the identity and employment eligibility of all persons hired to work in the United States. 13. References are required; transcripts may be required.
