Announcement of Vacancy for
Special Needs Instructional Coach (Grant Funded)
Qualifications:
Must have a valid SC Teachers Certificate
Master’s Degree in Special Education and/or Educational Leadership
Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience, special education preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of pedagogy, instructional strategies, and best practices
Strong organizational skills
Experience with school/district leadership preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills (communication, problem solving, collaboration) to share research based instructional practices with teachers and administrators through modeling lessons, providing staff development, mentoring, and coaching
Required Skills:
Demonstrate a commitment to outcome-based accountability, data-driven decision-making for students and teachers
Commit to working collaboratively with school administration, teachers, and teacher leaders to share accountability for student learning outcomes
Possess strong analytical skills, interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills
Demonstrate ability to work effectively with school and district leadership
Demonstrate ability to teach, model, mentor, and coach educators
Participate in continued professional development and growth opportunities
Provide/offer professional development courses,workshops and growth opportunities for educators
Roles & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Providing training for teachers and paraprofessionals regarding curriculum and supporting the classroom needs.
Modeling academic strategies for special education staff. Help with the implementation of student IEPs (ensure accommodations/modifications and services are appropriate and being implemented with fidelity).
Conducting formative classroom observations and providing written feedback for teachers (observe resource and self-contained lessons to ensure instructional practices are meeting expectations).
Provide support in writing and implementing lesson plans with new staff (based on school requirements).
Provide relevant professional development to school staff on instructional strategies and curriculum for special education students.
Expert for implementation of special education curriculums.
Conduct district special education trainings, as needed and assigned.
Other roles as determined by the school administration.
