Purpose of Job:

To manage, evaluate, and provide system-wide support for the Pre-Kindergarten program and parent/family involvement.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned as needed.

General Responsibilities/Essential Functions :

Coordinate required program components within the state and local policies, standards, rules, and regulations Provide support for specific content areas and regularly communicate efforts/outcomes to the Director of Support Services Monitor state guidelines/expectations and communicate those to program staff, school staff, principals, and parents Plan, coordinate set-up and provide staff development for curriculum related issues for all teachers in the school system Assist with the organization and preparation of local, state, and federal reports, including the voluntary Pre-K and grant applications Implement and monitor PreK-1 Portfolio assessments Assist Pre-K teachers with improving techniques for instruction and improving overall student achievement through coaching, modeling, and mentoring Provide instructional strategies and various tools to aid the instructional process Conducts classroom visits and provides actionable feedback Ensure teachers and principals are familiar with any changes in curriculum, instruction and assessment, or other state mandated Pre-K requirements Assist with the acquisition of appropriate Pre-K instructional materials and equipment Assist in the hiring and evaluation of staff Serve as a liaison to other district departments to foster relationships, leverage resources, and assist with coordinating joint projects as needed Ensure that the use of the district’s resources (time, money, people) are used in the most strategic and effective way possible Keep abreast of education-related legal and legislative requirements and proposed changes and their potential impact on district operations Assist in writing grants as appropriate for state and/or federal funding Abide by the Tennessee Teacher Code of Ethics Other Duties and Responsibilities Project a positive image of the LSSD at all times and support district goals Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of district information Support the effective delivery of a high quality of education for all students Provide exceptional levels of professional support and service to staff and public May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities Successful completion of Criminal Justice fingerprint/background process and drug screen Please note: this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred Three years or more of “highly effective” teaching experience with strong evidence of personal ability to improve student achievement Valid professional license with appropriate certification Ability to model effective instructional strategies Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and students Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director of Support Services or Director of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable Abilities/Physical Requirements Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active light work in an office setting.
