Overview:

Lake Oconee Academy is seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated Theatre/Drama Teacher to join our fine arts team. This position serves students in both middle school and high school and plays a key role in advancing our thriving theatre program. The ideal candidate is a dynamic educator who brings strong content knowledge, enthusiasm for student development, and the ability to manage full-scale productions from concept to performance.

Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Theatre Education, Performing Arts, or related field (Master’s degree preferred) Valid Georgia teaching certificate or eligibility for certification in Drama or Theatre Experience teaching and directing theatre at the middle and/or high school level Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple productions and responsibilities throughout the year Experience with technical theatre elements and supervising student crews A commitment to high expectations, equity, and developing the full potential of every student

Specific Responsibilities:

Teach middle and high school theatre classes with age-appropriate curriculum focused on performance, dramatic literature, technical theatre, and theatre appreciation Direct and produce a Middle School Theatre Production, a High School Musical, and the One Act Play Competition production annually Assist with the school’s Literary Team and provide support for theatrical-related components such as dramatic interpretation and monologue events Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to support cross-curricular integration and special school events Sponsor or co-sponsor theatre-related student clubs or societies (e.g., Drama Club, International Thespian Society) Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom and rehearsal environment that promotes student creativity, collaboration, and personal growth Oversee the technical and production aspects of performances including auditions, rehearsals, set design, lighting, costumes, and promotion, with student involvement when possible Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding performance schedules, expectations, and student progress Ensure compliance with school policies and safety procedures in all instructional and performance settings Reports to:
