Academy Instructor, Ballet (Dance Instruction)(Performing Arts) Charlotte Ballet 701 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202 Charlotte Ballet Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Boys Dance Instructor to lead structured and inclusive ballet classes for male-identifying students. This role supports the Academy’s mission by delivering high-quality dance instruction aligned with our established curriculum and faculty handbook. The instructor may teach during both the Academy School Year and Summer programs. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Classroom Preparation Deliver dance instruction in accordance with Charlotte Ballet Academy’s curriculum. Establish clear class goals and guide students through a structured progression. Plan each session with genre-appropriate warm-ups, skill-building exercises, and cool-downs. Teach using clear explanations, live demonstrations, and repetition-based reinforcement. Student Evaluation & Communication Provide bi-annual written evaluations for students (School Year). Make level placement recommendations (School Year and Summer). Participate in parent and director meetings as needed. Choreography & Showcase Choreograph and rehearse student pieces for annual exams and end-of-year showcases as assigned. Faculty Engagement Attend faculty meetings and curriculum planning sessions as scheduled.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Dance Education, or equivalent professional training in Ballet and/or Pedagogy.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching ballet is preferred. Additional experience in Jazz or Tap is highly desirable.
Supervisory Duties:
May supervise student teacher assistants.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to demonstrate movement in class settings.
Equipment Use:
Familiarity with studio digital sound systems and use of a laptop/tablet for attendance and roster management.
Compensation Hourly Rate:
$43.26 – $45.23 per hour, commensurate with experience.
