Performing Arts Teacher (Focus on Dance and Drama) (MSPA Grant Funded•1 year remaining on the Magnet grant) (Carvers Bay Middle STEAM Academy•.5 and Carvers Bay Early College and Career High•.5)

Qualifications
South Carolina Teacher Certification in a Performing Arts (focus on Dance and Drama)
Degree(s) required and area of major study from an accredited college or university
Prior job experience preferred
Excellent communication skills
Energetic, driven, creative, and dependable
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as District Administration may find appropriate and acceptable
Performance Responsibilities
Ability to teach using various dance styles and methodologies from beginner to advanced level
Develop dance curriculums and prepare lesson plans
Ability to communicate with a diverse group of teachers and students
Engage, encourage, and motivate students to reach their goals
Evaluate student performance and make recommendations for improvement
Choreograph routines and select music for recitals and concerts
Provide a fun and creative environment
Keep up to date in your discipline and implement any changes to the dance routines and curriculum as needed
Develop students’ music appreciation and skills via standards based instruction
Instruct students for the purpose of improving their music appreciation and musical skills e.g. voice and instrumentation via standards based instruction
Demonstrate musical instruments, equipment and supplies
Model instruction to students integrating core content areas with Music in day to day instruction
Possess an excellent understanding of Performing Arts and Drama Curriculum
Review and implement our Performing Arts and Drama Curriculum and assessment processes to include working on school shows and productions as well as developing a group and class drama timetable of sessions that develop social and emotional understanding and communication abilities
Plan and work with a collaborative team to deliver whole school events such as Fall Festivals, Holiday performances, Spring Fling and ROAR (Respect, On task, Appropriate, Responsible) events
Plan out of school Performing Arts events such as performances in Arts Field and other invites
Selects and requisitions uniforms, equipment, and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records
Develops lesson plans and organizes daily classes so that demonstration, instruction, and abilities of the students related to dance
Prepares for classes assigned, and shown written evidence of preparation upon request of immediately supervisor
Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds
Assesses accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports to principal, parents, and district as required
Maintains an accountable record of student attendance and makes daily reports
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities
Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs
Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by the district and administration
Performs all duties imposed on a teacher by the District and the laws of South Carolina, to comply with all district policies and regulations, and attend required school and district meetings or activities
Other Duties
Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator
