Job Summary/Basic Function The Department of Theatre and Dance at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a coordinator-track faculty position (#130410) in costuming at the rank of instructor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, teaching studio and academic courses such as Introduction to Costumes, Makeup Techniques, and Theatre Appreciation; supervising student designers/technologists for six main-stage theatre and dance productions annually; serving as a cutter for departmental productions; and coordinating and overseeing the execution of all MTSU Theatre and Dance costume and makeup needs. Required Education A master’s degree in theatre or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. A bachelor’s degree in theatre or a closely related field with two (2) years of directly related industry experience in costuming may be considered in lieu of a master’s degree. Other Desirables Applicants with previous university teaching experience in costuming and those with a secondary focus in makeup/wigs, or a closely related area will receive special consideration.
