Job Description

High School Theatre Teacher Mt Juliet Christian Academy 735 N Mt Juliet Road, Mount Juliet, TN 37122 Mt. Juliet Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and experienced theatre educator. Your primary responsibility will be to cultivate and strengthen students’ relationship with God through teaching and mentoring. In addition to teaching, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about theatre and the arts, and who can grow our existing program. Among other duties, you will be responsible for preparing student skits, incorporating various elements of theatre and drama into classroom lessons, managing High School and Middle School drama productions in the fall and spring, and creating an engaging classroom environment that promotes creativity and confidence. You must be able to manage the budget for productions in collaboration with the MJCA Business Office and the Upper School Principal. Collaborating closely with the Fine Arts Director will be an integral part of this role.

Qualifications :

Bachelor of Fine Arts or related degree. Advanced or additional training and experience preferred. Staging and costume experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned drama and theatre arts curriculum that aligns with a biblical worldview. Possess strong musical knowledge and experience, including the ability to teach musical theatre and voice techniques. Be familiar with and able to teach various key acting techniques. Effectively teach the technical aspects of theatrical production, including but not limited to musical direction, scenic design, lighting, sound, costume design, choreography, and makeup. Teach the elements of dramatic literature and analyze dramatic texts in an engaging way that captivates students interest. Model improvisation and performance skills that support students’ communication, confidence, teamwork, and creativity. Design choreography, create dance sequences, and organize steps, pathways, and formations intentionally. Create a supportive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages students to explore their creativity and express themselves through drama. Direct and produce student performances, plays, and theatrical showcases for school and community audiences. Evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. Collaborate closely with fellow teachers, administrators, and families to support student success and enrich the school community. Manage classroom practices in alignment with district policies and guidelines. Be organized and work with the Communications Director to create and distribute marketing materials. Manage rental production materials, budgets, and soundtracks for all Middle School and High School productions. Pursue continuous professional development and hold or work toward obtaining an ACSI license within the first two years of employment at MJCA.

Additional Job Duties may include:

Assisting with the larger Music and Arts Department and taking on additional classes as required.
