Exempt Job Goal:

To supervise the improvement of the graduation rate and the reduction of the drop-out rate for the Baldwin County School System. To provide students, parents, and school system personnel with resources, information, and strategies to enhance school success for academically at-risk students.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution. Master’s degree in educational leadership, administration, or supervision preferred. Experience as a school administrator preferred. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure as required by the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Possess and maintain valid driver’s license. Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups. Ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information. Knowledge of graduation requirements, drop-out prevention programs, curriculum, and student intervention strategies. Ability to collaborate with school staff, parents, community agencies, and/or others to assist and support students, as well as successfully implement new programs. Ability to develop programming specific to the needs of students. Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member. Knowledge of school law, school system policies, attendance regulations, school system student conduct codes, and appropriate strategies for managing student behavior. Physical strength, stamina, agility, and visual acuity to perform job responsibilities and operate needed equipment and tools. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities. Assists Director with program evaluations and strategic planning for the school system’s academic and at-risk programs. Provides assistance, as assigned, to school administrators, counselors, teachers or other designated staff members in diagnosing student difficulties, credit deficiencies, and needs; assists in implementing intervention strategies or other assistance for academically at-risk students. Participates, as assigned, in providing parent support seminars, workshops and other activities as identified to encourage parental involvement and school-to-home relationships. Assist in conducting data and pattern analyses to provide information for actions plan for improvement at the system, school, and grade levels. Assists in monitoring the established plan for the transition for overage students to the appropriate grade placement. Assists with reviews, program evaluations, and location of resources that promote student success for graduation. Participates in locating and completing applications for grants and other resources to assist with student achievement and post-secondary success. Assists in submitting reports to the appropriate local, state and federal agencies as scheduled and requested. Assists in securing grants and other forms of funding to enhance the graduation rate for the system. Makes student referrals to school or community assistance agencies as appropriate. Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner. Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters. Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility. Works cooperatively and productively with supervisor(s) and other system staff to ensure the system’s vision, goals and strategies are implemented and providing all pertinent data to all appropriate personnel within the designated time frame. Engages in professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and effective leadership. Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel. Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner. Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system and effectively supervises and monitors others in the care, maintenance, and use of tools, equipment, and inventory. Uses effective collaboration skills to work as a productive team member. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Terms of Employment:

Twelve-month position in accordance with the Board approved salary schedule.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Baldwin County Board of Education policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
