QUALIFICATIONS

Education /Certification Minimum of Master’s Degree in curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, or related field Alabama State Department of Education certification in administration Minimum of 5 years of successful leadership/administrative experience Preferred a minimum of 3 years of successful high school principal experience Minimum 3 years teaching experience Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457 Valid Alabama Drivers License Such alternative to the above qualifications as the superintendent might find appropriate and acceptable

JOB GOAL

Serve as the instructional and administrative leader of the school Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, presentation, decision-making, and technology skills.

PERFORMANCE AREAS

Manage the operations of the school Assume complete responsibility for the school and its performance by analyzing curricula and interpreting standardized test scores and then making the proper steps to improve a school’s performance Interprets and enforces federal and state laws, and state/local Board policies Recruits, screens, selects and assigns the school certified and support staff Assumes responsibility for scheduling Analyze a school’s budget and make executive decisions on how to allocate funds. Provide leadership for an environment of high expectations for staff and students Motivate and lead professional learning communities that focus on teacher development. Work with staff, students, and the community to ensure a high-quality educational program Formulate and accomplish the district’s vision and mission Demonstrates professional ethics Support the use of technology to motivate and prepare students for 21st century Responsible for ensuring the school runs smoothly, remains safe, and provides an excellent learning environment for the students Ensures the accuracy of student records and attendance Is willing to be highly visible within the school and community Ensures the implementation of all emergency procedures relating to the safety of students and staff Responsible for creating a positive environment by enforcing discipline to maintain safety as well as improve morale Support school-related activities that enhance teacher, student, parent, and community relations Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors Facilitate communication between employees, students, parents, the community, and both local and state governments Supervisor of all employees, including teachers, maintenance workers, administrative staffers, and any other employee of the school Directs the student counseling program Complies with all health regulations including the school nurse program and the Child Nutrition Program Performs other duties that may be assigned by the

EVALUATION

The basis of the evaluation will be the extent to which the performance responsibilities of the job are successfully handled and the extent to which yearly action plans and job goals are met. The Superintendent will perform the evaluation. The Bullock County School District expects that all employees will perform assigned duties diligently, professionally and efficiently and in compliance with all district policies and procedures as well as all federal and state laws.
