Child Nutrition Lead Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School diploma or GED 2. Ability to possess and maintain food safety certification. 3. Preferred Five (5) years’ experience in nutrition supervision, training, planning, and monitoring of a food service establishment. 4. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of federal and state CNP regulations. 5. Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations. 6. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. 7. Possess and maintain any required health certifications, tuberculin tests, or verifications of health status.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities. 2. Monitors individual schools’ compliance with federal and state regulations, local health department requirements and school system policies and procedures. 3. Monitors the financial status of the individual school cafeterias and the school system’s child nutrition program to effectively utilize resources and maintain the non-profit organization’s status. 4. Plans and conducts training for child nutrition workers. 5. Assists local school administrators and managers in the hiring of child nutrition program personnel and assists as needed with resolution of CNP personnel problems at the local school. 6. Provides training and demonstrations of use and care of equipment as needed. 7. Obtains state approval for and provides specifications to the purchasing department for equipment needs for the child nutrition program. 8. Promotes positive public relations for the Child Nutrition Program, by publication of menus and program information and development of CNP school system events and activities. 9. Works with managers on the development and implementation of quality recipes and effective techniques to improve food quality in school meals. 10. Develops menus for the school system that comply with all USDA requirements and meet nutritional standards. 11. Assists with developing a calendar for CNP employees based on the school calendar to include school days, training days, and cleaning/maintenance days. 12. Assist with supervising and the free and reduced-priced lunch application program. Submits to the ALSDE annually a policy statement and related reports for the school system. Upon ALSDE approval, disseminates to schools the policy statement and program guidelines and rules. 13. Assist with supervising the printing and distribution of forms needed to implement the child nutrition program; complies with federal guidelines regarding reporting and record keeping. 14. Estimates the amounts of needed commodities, the commodities available, and places orders as directed by the Food Distribution Department of the State Board of Education. Schedules deliveries of available commodities to schools. 15. Monitors records of CNP managers to ensure that required records are kept in an organized fashion and that they comply with all state and federal regulations. 16. Supervises the review of the After-School Care Program to ensure compliance with regulations for reimbursement of approved snacks and at-risk supper meals. 17. Documents employee performance issues and makes recommendations for improvements, and recommends training or professional development as needed. 18. Demonstrates professional ethics and effective leadership. 19. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law. 20. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement In areas of responsibility. 21. Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. 22. Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system. 23. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws. 24. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures. 25. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Excellent oral and written communication, public relations, staff training, and interpersonal skills. 2. Demonstrated knowledge of computer programs for menu nutritional analysis, meal counting and claiming, automated applications, inventory control, and electronic communications. 3. Ability to manage, supervise and evaluate personnel. 4. Experience in organizing, providing professional and/or staff development. 5. Ability to plan, organize, supervise evaluate all programs related to operation of the Child Nutrition Program. 6. Mobility, dexterity, stamina and ability to visit work sites, supervise employees, present food preparation demonstrations and present workshops. 7. Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary or as determined by the Superintendent or CNP Director. 8. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
