QUALIFICATIONS

: Valid Alabama Administrative Certificate Master’s Degree from an Accredited Institution Administrative or Supervisory Experience Preferred

REPORTS TO

: Superintendent of Education and Principal

SUPERVISES

: Certified and support personnel in the school

JOB GOAL

: To assist the principal in providing leadership for the professional staff of the school in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive educational program and to administer the program in accordance with school board policies, administrative rules, and regulations.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

: Contract length to be determined by Board of Education (9-12 months.) Salary to be determined by teacher salary matrix plus supplement.

EVALUATION

: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the State Board of Education Professional Educator’s Personnel Evaluation (PEPE).

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

: Assist and support the school principal in the policies, activities and programs of the school. Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior. Provide on-going, regularly scheduled consultation to regular education and special education personnel in the school as directed by the principal. Foster the success of all students by facilitating the development, communication, implementation and evaluation of a shared vision of learning that reflects excellence. Assist in planning the annual master schedule for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students consistent with the school’s philosophy, mission statement and instructional goals. Assist in the supervision of the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis as directed by the principal to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on best practices for learning and child growth and development. Assist with the procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment. Employ a variety of processes for gathering, analyzing and using data for decision making. Work with Central Office staff and principal to develop and implement a school improvement plan as needed. Collaborate with teachers and instructional support personnel in the school. Promote effective communications and interpersonal relations among staff, parents, students and community members. Maintain effective discipline and foster a safe and orderly learning environment. Model high expectations of students and staff. Assist in establishing schedules and procedures for the supervision of students in non-classroom areas, including field trips and before and after school. Use effective presentation skills when addressing students, staff, parents, and the community, including appropriate vocabulary examples, clear and legible visuals, and articulate and audible speech. Complete in a timely fashion all records and reports as requested by the principal. Maintain accurate attendance records. Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory system for all school system/state/federally funded equipment, materials and supplies. Assist in developing and carrying out clearly understood procedures and providing regular drills for emergencies and disasters. Keep staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school as directed by the principal. Assist in conducting faculty/staff/parent meetings as directed by the principal to inform or interact. Plan and conduct professional development activities and sessions as directed by the principal. Assist in preparing school budget(s) in accordance with the Code of Alabama as directed by the principal. Comply with local, federal, state directives regarding health issues and services. Oversee the educational services and individual educational plans (IEP’s) of special needs students enrolled in the school as directed by the principal or Central Office supervisor. Comply with state and federal guidelines regarding food services in the school. Direct, supervise, or perform other program duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal, Superintendent and/or Board of Education.
