JOB GOAL

To serve as the professional assistant instructional leader of the school. Under the direction of the principal, works with staff, students, and community to ensure high quality educational programs and to formulate and accomplish the school system’s vision, mission and strategic goals. To assist the principal with ensuring that an environment of high expectations and accountability exists for faculty, staff, students and parents.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals and priorities Assists with overseeing and accountability for all aspects of the school, including but not limited to personnel, students, instructional and extra-curricular programs, school safety/crisis management, facilities, maintenance, operations, and all activities therein Models and maintains high ethical standards Implements all board policies and administrative rules and regulations Assists with establishing and managing attendance procedures at the assigned school Maintains property inventory for school property in accordance with system financial procedures Facilitates and monitors the integration of technology in the classroom Provides a quick response to any emergency involving students, staff or the school facility Maintains high visibility within all areas of the facility Assists with retention efforts of all school instructional and support staff; assists with making recommendations regarding employment, work assignment, professional development needs, transfer, release, and any other staffing related issues within assigned school Participates in system-wide leadership meetings and other meetings and activities appropriate for professional learning and effective school operations Assists with providing leadership in the school improvement process and the implementation of continuous improvement plans, the accreditation program, accountability reports, and other required plans Assists with managing and administering the instructional program according to state and school system guidelines Assists with ensuring the evaluation of all staff is completed according to state and school system guidelines Assists with managing and administering professional development through training, in-service and other developmental opportunities Assists with communicating, through staff meetings and written materials, information that will keep staff informed of policies, procedures, and instructional program changes and updates Assists with managing and supervising the school’s financial resources, including the preparation and disbursement of the school budget and internal accounts Assists with overseeing the care and safekeeping of the school buildings and grounds including all furniture, apparatus, equipment, and supplies Maintains standards of student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct Attends school sponsored activities, functions and athletic events (home and away) Develops and maintains positive school/community relations and acts as a liaison between the school and central office, community, and all other stakeholders Models and encourages effective interpersonal and communication skills for all stakeholders Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement; keeps Principal, Assistant Superintendents, Superintendent and CSFO informed of potential problems or unusual events Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner Performs regular and thorough inspections of the school plant and school properties and reports needed maintenance to designated personnel Assists with supervising the preparation of all school reports, student records, school’s internal accounts and maintains a record-keeping system Makes recommendations to the Principal, Assistant Superintendents and Superintendent concerning policy, practice, and personnel for the purposes of improving the quality of the school system Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws Perform any duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as assigned by the principal. Other Perform duties such as monitoring lunch, arrival, dismissal, covering classes, etc. Carry out any additional daily school duties as decided upon by the principal Ensure effective field lessons, school events, and extracurricular activities Model MCAA core values and character strengths at all times

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree from an accredited institution with certification in education administration A minimum of three (3) years’ successful teaching experience Knowledge of school district organization and administration including school law, regulations, statutes, rules and policies affecting education and the school system Excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills Ability to establish credibility with all constituents, effectively and professionally manage sensitive and confidential information, and be comfortable and effective working with all levels of an organization Ability to understand the unique needs, growth issues, and learning characteristics of students of the school/grade level(s) assigned Knowledge of curriculum development, educational technology, best practices and staff development principles, as well as current trends and research Ability to organize, motivate, delegate, evaluate, and supervise others effectively Ability to proficiently use current technology for communication, presentations, research, data analysis, budgeting, recordkeeping, reporting, scheduling, and other job responsibilities as required Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Principal may find appropriate and acceptable.
