Principal Job Overview :

The Assistant Principal is responsible for facilitating the Academic and Curricular Programming of the school, including teacher development to ensure a positive and structured learning environment that creates the conditions for learning and advancement toward mission success. This position requires an organized and consistent educator with a concrete vision of excellence, adult leadership capabilities, the ability to build outstanding relationships with teachers, staff and community stakeholders, and a talent for inspiring students to high expectations. This position is an opportunity to play a significant role in academic achievement and character development and helping students achieve the ultimate goal of homeownership.

Key Responsibilities :
Classroom Observation and Coaching:

Conduct classroom observations and bi-monthly coaching sessions to build relationships, review data, and provide feedback.

Data Driven Instruction:

Lead data-driven instruction meetings and facilitate school-wide assessments to identify and address student achievement gaps. Collaborate with teachers to align curriculum with student academic and vocational needs.

Professional Development:

Facilitate staff professional development and coordinate external training resources.

Staff Feedback and Evaluation:

Provide feedback on lesson plans and conduct biannual teacher performance evaluations.

School Culture and School Systems:
School Wide Systems:

Upholds and refines school wides systems such as Entry, Transitions, Lunch etc to foster a positive, achievement-oriented school culture.

Support Classroom Culture:

Support and train teachers to establish and maintain explicit directions and high expectations in alignment with the No Nonsense Nurturer model and school policies and procedures.

School Wide Behavior System:

Uphold and manage the school-wide behavior system based on restorative justice.

Culture and Community Events:

Organize culture and community events and lead regular parent engagement meetings including but not limited to: Morning Meeting, Open Houses, Parent Teacher Conferences, Regular Phone Calls Home.

Desired Experience Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred At least 3-5 years of teaching or school leadership in under-resourced communities with a proven record of achievement Proven experience coaching and leading adults with a track record of exemplary relationship building and trust. Strong understanding of culturally sensitive and responsive pedagogy and leadership Team player: demonstrates maturity, trustworthiness, growth mindset, strong work ethic, follow-through and flexibility
