Teaching Full Job Description Principal Bessemer City School System Title:
Principal Qualifications:

Master’s degree in educational administration. Certified by the State of Alabama At least three years of successful experience as a classroom teacher and two years successful experience as an administrator. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Superintendent Job Goal:

To establish and maintain through effective leadership an educational climate within the school that fosters learning.

Performance Responsibilities:

Assumes full responsibility for the organization, implementation, and administration of the total school program as it relates to students, faculty, and other assigned personnel. Assumes responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of the instructional program and the assignment, supervision, supervision, and evaluation of all personnel involved in the total school program, Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary. Assumes responsibility for providing conditions within the school which are conducive to learning. Adheres to policies, principles, and procedures for internal school accounting as approved by the Bessemer Board of Education in compliance with the Internal School of Accounting Act. Assumes responsibility for administering the funds allocated on a per-pupil basis to the school in a manner that will ensure maximum utilization of the funds. Adheres to professional, ethical, and moral standards of conduct in the transaction of all school business. Cooperates with those agencies of state and local governments which render services to students. Establishes effective communication with students, teachers, parents, and community organizations and provides opportunities for community involvement in all phases of the school program. Prepares and submits to the appropriate agencies (Bessemer Board of Education, State Department of Education, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, etc.) all required records and reports. Administers the school program according to the standards of the local Board of Education, State Board of Education, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Terms of Employment:

Salary and work year to be established by the Board through a contractual agreement. Salary in adherence and compliance with approved salary schedule.
