To administer and supervise all the activities and personnel with the assigned school, and to work to establish an educational environment that motivates both Faculty and Students to develop to their fullest possible potential.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Principal shall have the professional qualifications of a teacher in Alabama and it shall be required that the Principal holds a Master’s degree from an accredited institution with a certification in Administration and Supervision. A minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience and preferably a minimum of two years administrative experience as Principal and/or Assistant Principal at the Secondary Level. Demonstrates leadership, administrative and supervisory qualities. Effective skills in human relations Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills. Successful participation in professional development activities on the individual, local school and school system levels. Exhibit educational, civic and community involvement. Knowledge of curriculum development, effective classroom practices and staff development principles. Ability to demonstrate effective leadership in group settings. Ability to understand the unique needs, growth issues, and learning characteristics of students of the school/grade level(s) assigned. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups, including, but not limited to, students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members. Knowledge and ability to use and facilitate the use of various forms of education technology. Ability to assist with instructional techniques. Ability to organize, delegate and supervise other effectively. Ability to evaluate and provide constructive feedback to faculty and staff as assigned. Ability to use group dynamics within the context of cultural diversity. Ability to collaboratively plan with faculty, staff and system officials for school improvement and increase student achievement. Knowledge of educational trends, data analysis and research. Knowledge of curriculum and principles of learning. Ability to use technology for communication, presentation, research, data analysis, budgeting, record keeping, reporting, scheduling and other job responsibilities as required. Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions Supervise the schools instructional and extracurricular programs and all activities within the school. Manages and administers the accreditation program and continuous improvement plan for the assigned school. Implement all board policies and administrative rules and regulations. Develop and encourage programs of orientation and self-improvement of teachers and others within the school. Determine the work assignment of all professional personnel assigned to the school. Plan and conduct faculty meetings. Assigns and supervises special tasks and assignments for all school personnel. Coordinate school safety plans and facility inspections at the assigned school. Establishes and manages attendance procedures at the assigned school. Provides a quick response to any emergency involving students, staff or the school facility, Supervises the orderly movement and safety of transportation services on school grounds. Implements disciplinary procedures and policies. Manages and administers personnel development through training, in-service and other developmental activities. Make recommendations to the Superintendent concerning policy, practice or personnel for the purpose of review and/or approval.
