To develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive athletic program that promotes student-athlete development, academic success, and school spirit. Ensure the program aligns with the school’s philosophy, goals, and objectives while fostering a safe, inclusive, and competitive environment for all participants.
Duties:
Administers Athletic Programs for Midfield City Schools Submits all required forms and paperwork to the Alabama High School Athletic Association by the due date. Purchase needed uniforms and equipment for all teams. Coordinate workers for athletic events. Ensures that restrooms and other facilities are clean and in good repair (report as needed to the maintenance department). Ensures that receipts for athletic events are handled in a prescribed manner (working with principal and local schools bookkeeper). Schedule and pay Officials for all games. Maintenance and preparation for game fields. Ensure that students are transported to athletic events by securing bus drivers or serving as the bus driver. Works with the principals to resolve conflicts. Works with principals in planning and implementing initiatives in athletic programs in general. Develop a vision for athletics in Midfield City Schools. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent. Serve as the primary liaison between the athletic department and parents, community members, and the media. Communicate regularly with stakeholders about the athletic program’s goals, achievements, and needs. Promote athletic events and successes through various media outlet.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university. A valid Alabama Professional Educator’s Certification. Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required. Applicants must either currently serve as a full-time academic teacher or obtain a full-time academic teacher position within the Midfield City School System. Possess a valid American Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR certification. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally. Knowledge of Alabama High School Athletic Association Rules and Procedures. At least three years of secondary teaching experience. Holds a Commercial Driver’s License preferred. Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquiries. Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff and students. Willingness to put in long hours for the development of a successful athletic program. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Evaluation:
Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of personnel.
Salary Range:
Salary is based on Board approved salary schedule based on rank, certification and experience. (Actual salary will be determined upon verification of experience.) Applicants will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (HB 402 Act 99-361 Alabama Legislature).
