Essential Job Duties
- Works collaboratively with counselors to develop a health and well-being program that supports academic success and retention
- Develop and implement effective early academic alerts for students performing unsatisfactory in courses and academic programs
- Works collaboratively faculty, administrators, and staff to identify students who need academic support and provide strategies to get back on academic track
- Responsible for academic advising regarding student academic progress and academic wellness
- Create assessment tools to track student performance and provide data analysis for continuous academic improvements for outcomes assessment
- Develop, modify, or implement programs to better serve student needs
- Maintain routine communications with students to ensure the effectiveness of academic programs
- Follow policies and procedures, and maintain confidentiality of communications, records and files
- Maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds
- Assist with facilitating student requests for Americans with Disabilities Act ( ADA) Accommodations
- Develop and implement strategies and activities for Student Support Services that focus on improving outcomes assessment (retention rates, standardized examinations, course completion, the graduation license examination, graduation rates, employment rates, and alumni feedback
- Organize and implement programs and workshops on a variety of student success-related topics as needed
- Assists in compiling and reporting data for reports, and offers workshops, lectures and presentations to faculty, staff and students centered on academic success
- Works with the associate dean for academic affairs for increasing graduation and retention rates
- Perform other duties and participate in special projects as assignedQualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Education or closely related field OR any equivalent combination of experience
- A Masters degree or PhD in counseling, higher education, college student services, or related field is preferred
- Preference is given to candidates with additional two to three years of experience working in higher education, and with students of diverse backgroundsPhysical Demands
