POSITION:

Assistant Principal

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree or higher with a major in educational administration from an accredited college or university Valid Alabama Administrative Certification Required Minimum of three (3) years of classroom teaching experience and/or administrative experience

REPORTS TO

Principal

SUPERVISES

Teachers and school support staff

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in providing effective leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the instructional program. Assists in interpreting and implementing federal and state laws and state and local board polices. Assists the principal in personnel functions. Assists the principal in securing, maintaining, and managing material resources. Assists in preparing and administering the school budget and supervising school finances. Assists the principal in assuming responsibility for scheduling. Assists the principal with school discipline. Assists in ensuring that students receive appropriate placement and services. Supervises the faculty, staff, and students at assigned school. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication. Assists in providing professional growth for staff. Assists in communicating and clarifying the school’s mission to students, staff and community. Assists in providing a safe, orderly environment that facilitates teaching and learning. Assists in providing a climate of high expectations for staff and students. Assists in supervising, observing, and evaluating teachers and staff. Plans and accomplishes personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics. Maintains proper certification by attending college, workshops, and/or professional development courses. Performs other assigned duties as requested by the supervisor.

Ten (10) month approved by board

Performance evaluated in accordance with board policy.

Board approved salary schedule All positions with the Troy City Board of Education require submission of a copy of current driver’s license or valid picture identification, a copy of Social Security card, and background clearance through the State of Alabama Department of Education. Certified positons also required submission of valid teaching certificate (Alabama or out-of-state) as well as unofficial transcripts indicating all coursework and degree conferral date(s) from regionally accredited colleges/universities.
