To provide strategic and visionary leadership in identifying, assessing, and managing progressive, high-quality educational opportunities for all students To promote and sustain a district-wide culture of educational excellence through implementation of school climate improvement, restorative supports, and equitable access and outcomes for all students To develop, coordinate, implement, and monitor all district initiatives as they relate to the successful execution of Educational Opportunities and Consent Decree objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited university or college. Valid Alabama certificate in Educational Leadership, administration, and/or supervision. Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a classroom teacher and/or instructional coach. Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a local school or district administrator. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Superior leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills across multiple settings with large and/or diverse groups to support school system goals. Ability to plan, organize effectively and supervise the work of others. Ability to use technology to communicate, manage data and produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information. Ability to manage computer databases, electronic spreadsheets, desktop publishing, and online applications to access, manipulate, analyze and monitor data on a continual basis, including production of required reports for long range goals. Ability to multi-task, work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines, complete complex tasks, and accurately prioritize tasks and projects. Strong analytical and project management skills, with a high attention to detail. Proficiency in oral and written communication. Ability to coordinate, lead, and provide professional development through various data sources. Excellence in long-range strategic planning. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule. Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities. Collaborates with district leaders and community partners to identify and review research-based programs, initiatives, and best practices in the planning of educational opportunities that incorporate a philosophy of innovative thinking. Monitors and supports all current district educational opportunities. Identifies and evaluates potential educational opportunities providing connection to high-wage, high-interest workforce and economic development. Collaborates with school and district leaders to assess current educational opportunities and define potential additions and modifications based on data. Compiles information and provides comprehensive reports related to the successful execution of educational opportunities and Consent Decree objectives. Ensures implementation to fidelity of the district’s Consent Decree through district and school level oversight. Works collaboratively with school and district leaders to respond to any requests related to Consent Decree deadlines and timelines. Collaborates with school and district leaders to identify, support, and monitor training for school climate improvement and restorative supports for students. Develops an effective communication and accountability system for all educational opportunities and Consent Decree requirements and serves as the primary point of contact for related data collection and information distribution. Coordinates the implementation, communication, and assessment of the application process and selection for educational opportunities. Coordinates and provides professional development and support in relation to all educational opportunities and Consent Decree goals for all shareholder groups. Ensures participation in professional development for accountability. Identifies emerging local, state, national, and global educational trends related to the implementation of educational opportunities and Consent Decree goals in order to recommend related innovations. Collaborates with the Director of Magnet School Programs to ensure educational opportunities are not duplicative of any magnet school/program. Collaborates with the Director of Communications to ensure positive communication related to Consent Decree terms and educational opportunities for students Works collaboratively with all Consent Decree committees and district and school leadership related to educational opportunities. Plans and manages program budgets and related purchases. Ensures accountability by collaborating with appropriate personnel related to all required Consent Decree data including demographic, instructional, discipline, extracurricular, survey data and other sources to ensure that all collection timelines are met. Coordinates and oversees accountability of all educational opportunity related programs, initiatives, and activities. Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism and ethics, and works cooperatively with the Board, the Superintendent, other administrators, board employees, parents, and students. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and laws. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent and/or Superintendent.
