Full Job Description Principal Search:

Healthy Learning Academy, Inc., a Kindergarten-5th grade Elementary Charter School Healthy Learning Academy, Inc ., Gainesville, FL, is conducting a search for the position of Principal of the kindergarten-5th grade elementary school. The school has one classroom per grade with a maximum of 110 students. The mission of Healthy Learning Academy is to provide excellence in education with a focus on lifelong health, nutrition, and fitness for the creative mind and healthy body. The principal is directly responsible for the management of all administrative, operational, and educational aspects of the school. The principal promotes the successful education of students that fulfills the mission of the school in a safe environment. Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for the position of principal. The HLA Board of Directors will assess and prioritize candidates according to their fulfillment of the specified qualifications. The salary range is from $62,000-$72,000. Benefits include retirement contribution and health insurance stipend.

May 15, 2025 The qualifications required for this position include, but are not limited to: A master’s degree from an accredited educational institution preferred, with prior experience in classroom and school administration; applicants with bachelor’s degree and no less than five years’ experience in elementary school administration may also be considered. Certification, or substantial completion of coursework toward certification i Florida Educational Leadership. A minimum of three years’ successful elementary education classroom teaching experience. Eligible for a Florida teaching certificate Knowledge of Florida charter school legal requirements Experience managing budgets, including projections for expenditures, and meeting financial reporting requirements/deadlines. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (including, but not limited to): 1. Possess commitment to and ability to promote the mission and goals of HLA as a charter school. 2. Ability to prepare and manage the school’s budget and allocated resources. 3. Ability to manage payroll, benefits and other bookkeeping responsibilities. 4. Ability to read, interpret and adhere to the State Board Rules, State Charter School Rules, Code of Ethics, School Board Policies, as applicable to charter schools, employee contracts, and appropriate state and federal statues. 5. Ability to select, hire, supervise, manage, and evaluate personnel. 6. Familiarity with current educational trends, research, and technology. 7. Ability to understand the unique needs and developmental characteristics of kindergarten students, as well as grade 1-5 elementary school students. 8. Awareness and skills in working with children with diverse needs and range of abilities. 9. Respect for and desire to promote cultural diversity within the school environment. 10. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with parents, students, teachers, HLA governing board of directors, and the community. Effective skills in public speaking. 11. Ability to demonstrate consistent time management and organizational skills. 12. Ability to anticipate and meet deadlines consistently. 13. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding the school faculty, staff, students, and their families. 14.
