Job Description
The salary for this position is 100,000.00 and is non-negotiable. Job Summary
Leads the School Choice/Pupil Assignment Operations Department. Oversees the establishment, development and maintenance of school choice options including magnet programs, charter schools,
special transfer options, and other state mandated private and public school choice programs. Manages the assignment of students to schools, school boundaries and student enrollment
database. Writes, implements and manages large scale grants for magnet schools.
Essential Functions
1. Leads, directs, and manages School Choice operations; recruits, selects, orients,
trains, coaches, counsels, and disciplines staff. Plans, monitors, appraises, andreviews staff job contributions to planning, development, delivery, follow-up, and evaluation of School Choice services.
2. Provides leadership, vision and visibility for all district School Choice programs.
3. Communicates policies, rules and procedures governing the district’s school choice options to the public. Prepares reports and makes presentations to the
administration, School Board and the community regarding school choice and pupil placement.
4. Monitors the implementation of unitary policies on magnet schools, pupil assignment, and student transfers.
5. Serves as Project Director for Magnet Schools Assistance Program grants(s).
6. Oversees the program design, implementation, and evaluation for more than 60 magnet schools. Identifies new magnet themes, makes recommendations for placement and implementation.
7. Ensures that magnet schools have an annual marketing and recruitment plan.
8. Oversees and approves all publications of the School Choice Department.
9. Implements the Opportunity Scholarship Program as needed.
10. Conducts site reviews and visits to magnet and charter schools. 11. Oversees School Choice programs including magnet, charter, special transfer options, McKay Scholarships, and Opportunity Scholarships.
12. Manages the Impact Aid/Federal Assistance Program.
13. Develops budgets and oversees the expenditure of district and federal funds.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Doctorate degree preferred.
Experience:
Seven (7) years successful supervisory or administrative experience at the school
or central office with increasing levels of responsibility. Knowledge of school board policies; state
and federal laws related to school choice options and pupil assignment; curriculum development;
and current trend in magnet program design and implementation. Demonstrated knowledge
and/or ability with technology, fiscal affairs, GIS software, and school boundaries. Must have
grant management background. Management experience with Magnet Schools Assistance
Program (MSAP) grant preferred.
Certifications & Licenses:
Florida Department of Education Certification in Educational Leadership or Administration/Supervision.
