What You’ll Do The Student Success Specialist will provide responsible, independent and specialized work in the academic recruitment, advisement, registration, orientation and related functions for general student populations.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

Manage all aspects of the enrollment process for students entering postsecondary programs at the Florida Public Safety Institute’s (FPSI) Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy (PTLEA) and Tallahassee Fire Academy (TFA) to include advising prospective students on the application process, financial aid, residency, and other related issues. Work with Enrollment Services and Testing, Student Success Center, Learning Commons, Financial Aid Office, Business Office, and others at TSC to assist students with enrollment and academic planning. Assist students and FPSI staff with the graduation process. Serve as the counselor liaison to the criminal justice and fire program coordinators to assist in the development of academic success plans. Collaborate with Learning Specialists in the Student Success Center in the development of individual student learning plans, and monitor student compliance with the recommendations in the success plan. Assist criminal justice and fire coordinators with development, administration, and evaluation of course and instructor related examinations and evaluations. Coordinate and lead group presentations on study skills, time management, stress management, test taking, test anxiety, and other student success topics. Coordinate new student orientation for students entering certificate program. Assist students with academic advising questions and understanding advising tools (e.g., TSC Passport). Assist eligible students with enrolling in degree programs upon completion of certificate programs at FPSI. Our ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Three (3) years of related professional experience. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the required education.
