Elementary School Principal Visible Men Academy Bradenton, FL 34203 About Visible Men Academy (VMA) Visible Men Academy is a public, all-boys charter school serving students from Manatee and Sarasota Counties. Our mission is to provide outstanding academic, character, and social education in a nurturing school environment. Rooted in equity and committed to closing achievement gaps for boys of color, VMA integrates strong academics with a whole-child approach to education, emphasizing socialemotional learning, mentorship, and character development. We are entering a period of strategic growth and transition, and we are seeking a visionary and results oriented Principal who can lead our next chapter with passion, excellence, and an unwavering commitment to the success of every student. Position Overview The Principal is the school’s chief academic and operational leader, directly responsible for the execution of VMA’s educational mission. Reporting to the Board of Directors and working in collaboration with families, staff, and community partners, the Principal sets the instructional tone, drives faculty development, manages daily operations, and fosters a joyful and rigorous school culture. Key Responsibilities I. Instructional Leadership Serve as the instructional leader by modeling effective teaching and learning practices Implement a project-based, standards-aligned curriculum designed for diverse learners Lead professional learning communities that promote data-driven instruction, lesson planning, and culturally responsive pedagogy Supervise and support all instructional staff, providing real-time feedback and coaching Oversee administration of state assessments, progress monitoring, and intervention planning Ensure compliance with Florida’s academic standards and charter authorizer expectations II. Student Achievement & Outcomes Lead the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and schoolwide goals Drive academic gains across core subjects with an emphasis on literacy and numeracy Support high expectations for student behavior, attendance, and engagement Coordinate Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), English Language Learner (ELL) programs, and Section 504 compliance III. School Culture & Social-Emotional Learning Build a positive, inclusive school culture that reflects VMA’s core values Model and reinforce school-wide norms and routines to promote a safe and orderly environment Ensure fidelity to the school’s social-emotional learning model, including daily integration into instruction and advisory Establish discipline systems that emphasize restoration, accountability, and dignity IV. Operations, Finance & Facilities Develop and manage the annual school budget in collaboration with the finance team Monitor purchasing, inventory, and expenditures for alignment with fiscal policies Supervise all non-instructional staff including custodial, office, and operations personnel Oversee facility upkeep, safety protocols, and emergency preparedness procedures Coordinate transportation services to ensure timely and safe student travel V. Staff Development & Human Resources Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of high-quality staff Implement systems for annual evaluations and performance-based professional development Design mentorship and support programs for new and developing teachers Build a distributed leadership model that empowers emerging teacher-leaders VI. Family & Community Engagement Foster strong relationships with families through communication, transparency, and trust Lead strategic initiatives to grow enrollment and strengthen retention Represent VMA to community organizations, public officials, and philanthropic partners • Collaborate with the board and fundraising staff on events, donor cultivation, and public engagement

Qualifications Required:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution Florida Certification in Educational Leadership or School Administration Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience Minimum 3 years of school-level administrative or leadership experience

Preferred:

Experience in a Title I, urban, or charter school setting Background in leading equity-driven academic initiatives Knowledge of Florida DOE compliance, charter school law, and MTSS frameworks Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) a plus Compensation & Terms Full-time, 12-month contract Competitive salary based on experience and credentials Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, 401K match, and paid time off Performance evaluated annually by the Board of Directors with eligibility for contract renewal or extension
