POSITION
OBJECTIVE
Responsible for the overall condition of the golf course including but not limited to: daily operations, scheduling maintenance, managing budgeted costs and proper chemical usage. In order to maintain the turf and playing conditions for the Golf Course, to the highest level and provide the finest possible playing conditions and surroundings for guests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Oversee and maintain turf and playing conditions to the highest level possible by direction of staff scheduling, landscape management, chemical applications, irrigation management, and special cultural practices.
Supervise, coordinate, train, and schedule daily assignments and projects conducted by the golf course staff.
Maintain certification in pesticide application by the appropriate regulatory agency. Familiar with basic fertilizer processes including set up, storage, application, and compiling accurate record keeping procedures. fertilizer and chemicals to golf course as conditions dictate i.e. fertilizers, applications, top dressing, and aerification
Monitor all financial responsibilities including but not limited to daily expenditures, inventory control, purchasing, monthly or quarterly budgeting, and the yearly budgeting process.
Implement personnel programs on a daily basis in regards to hiring, training, evaluation, and terminations Oversee golf course equipment maintenance, inventory, and purchasing programs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or one to two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of the two. Three to Five years experience in Golf Course Maintenance.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must possess basic computational ability.
Must possess basic computer skills.
Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
Ability to solve problems and make rational decisions.
Knowledge of hotel Golf operations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Most work tasks are performed outdoors. Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 7 hours in length.
Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. Must be able to bend, squat and lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
Effectively communicate with guests, supervisors and other employees.
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES
Posses or have ability to obtain within 90 days:
Florida restricted use pesticide commercial applicators license
Florida green industries BMP certification
