DESCRIPTION

The Baccalaureate Advisor develops and implements student enrollment, retention, and completion initiatives for baccalaureate programs. Provides advisement to current and new students on a wide range of services on all programs and courses offered by the College. Provides support services to assists students to define and reach their educational goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provides academic advisement services to all new and returning students, including those students who are transitioning from the AA/AS degree into the baccalaureate programs.
2. Advising baccalaureate degree seeking students to help them identify and select appropriate courses for their career path and educational goals, documents student progress through reports, queries, degree audits, third party tools such as Navigate and follow-up contacts.
3. Analyzes and interprets departmental or functional requirements for baccalaureate students to enable them to assume increasing self-reliance in re-enrollment processes in subsequent terms.
4. Provides feedback of student challenges that impact the baccalaureate student experience from initial contact through re-enrollment and graduation.
5. Provides in-depth advising services and comprehensive information regarding graduation requirements, course substitutions, transfer credits, test score interpretation, and career guidance.
6. Refers students to academic department sand support services.
7. Participates in planning and review of operational procedures and College events.
8. Collaborates with the baccalaureate admissions office to provide dedicated services to students.
9. Provides presentations, informational sessions, and developmental programming for current students enrolled in the baccalaureate programs.
10. Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution, preferably higher education, counseling, psychology, sociology, or related field.
2. One year of experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably higher education.

1. Knowledge of college enrollment functions, including admissions, placement testing, advising, and financial aid applications.
2. Knowledge of Florida College System policies and procedures regarding baccalaureate programs.
3. Ability to become proficient in appreciative advising methodology to cultivate student achievement.
4. Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel) and knowledge of enterprise-wide student information systems.
5. Ability to work well in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment.
6. Strong service excellence skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
7. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
8. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
9. Demonstrates a professional, courteous demeanor.
10. Ability to work in a flexible and fast paced environment, exercising good judgment and discretion without close supervision.
11. Ability to use multiple modes of contact to serve the needs of students.
