Director of School Nutrition

Range from $38,000 to $48,000 depending on experience.

JOB GOAL
Provide leadership for a system-wide food services program that is nutritionally adequate and educationally and financially sound.
REPORTS TO
Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Institutional Management, Family Consumer Sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field.
Two years food service experience.
State-recognized certificate for school nutrition directors or willingness to obtain by completing 6 semester hours annually toward certificate requirement. .
Knowledge and understanding of the school nutrition program, including local, state, and federal regulations.
ServSafe Certified
Strong project management skills.
Strong Bookkeeping experience.
Ability to communicate skillfully in both a written and oral manner.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and vendors.
Ability to supervise people effectively.
Ability to present information to individuals and groups.
Physical demands – must be able to sit the majority of the day; lift and carry twenty (20) to thirty (30) pounds infrequently. Job also requires some bending and stooping.
JOB DUTIES
Guides the evolution of the School Nutrition Program and promotes the vision with employees and school communities.
Assist with the planning and design of new kitchens and cafeterias.
Formulates and analyzes data on existing kitchens to ensure effective use of district funds for facility renovation and replacement of equipment.
Controls the procurement of all School Nutrition Program food, supplies, equipment and services to ensure compliance with school nutrition program standards, budget guidelines, and federal and district purchasing policies.
Directs school nutrition personnel staff development and training.
Compiles, submits, and maintains records and reports following local, state, and federal regulations.
Develops and manages Nutrition budget, as well as, making recommendations concerning school nutrition program.
Prepares USDA Free and Reduced Application materials for distribution and processing applications or completes Community Eligibility Provision applications and reports to Georgia DOE.
Coordinates with the Maintenance Director in organizing preventive maintenance services, purchases, and repairs on all kitchen equipment.
Works with the school principals concerning administration, nutrition, and the educational aspects of school nutrition.
Plans menus to ensure that healthy, diverse, and enjoyable meals are provided to students that are in compliance with Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act 2010 (HHFKA).
Perform other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Position works 230 days.
EVALUATION
Performance is evaluated in accordance with the personnel policy on classified evaluations.
