MGA has five campuses-Macon, Cochran, Dublin, Eastman, and Warner Robins, all located in central Georgia-and global outreach through its fully-online campus. Job Summary The International Student Coordinator is a member of the Registrar team and provides support to international degree-seeking students while serving as MGA’s primary designated school official (PDSO). The position will be the primary point of contact for international students regarding immigration advising and other areas which support student success. This position will report directly to the University Registrar. Responsibilities Maintain the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and All Related Certification Requirements as the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) (75%)
- Identifies and trains Designated School Officials (DSO) while ensuring accurate reporting.
Issuance of initial I-20 to international students, support as needed. Maintain continuing student I-20 records in accordance with travel regulations and/or CPT/OPT. Establishes, updates, and tracks SEVIS files. Provides immigration information to international students, monitors and tracks student immigration status, and maintains appropriate files. Advises students with F1 visas on immigration requirements to include academic requirements, career advising, OPT and CPT, and issues for international students. Assists with communicating to international students on University policies to maintain good standing. Coordinates and plans programs that support the needs of F1 students including the development and implementation of retention strategies and new student orientation programs. Ensures all student records in SEVIS are current and accurate, including registering, cancelling, and terminating student I-20s each semester Monitors student course schedules/credit hours/mode of course delivery for compliance Monitors CPT/OPT students each semester for regular updates as needed for compliance Evaluate International Documents to Include but not Limited to High School and College Transcripts (25%)
- Evaluates international transcripts for admission to the University and stays abreast of current rules and regulations pertaining to the determination of US equivalent of international academic records Functions as a liaison between students and campus departments to expedite resolution of student problems or issues involving international students.
Assists with efforts to build and maintain positive relationships with the MGA community. Performs other duties as assigned by University Registrar. Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. Other Required Qualifications Understanding of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position. Required Experience Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for three to five years experiences in higher education or an administrative area. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally. Ability to maintain confidentiality, to be sensitive to and respond to the needs and concerns of students. Ability to problem solve, make judgement calls, and decisions on a regular basis Ability to proactively validate data and prevent problems; to flexibly respond to shifting priorities Willingness to work in a team environment to complete the Office of the Registrar and University goals.
