Through our unique curriculum that integrates science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, FAST empowers students to become creative problem-solvers, critical thinkers, and collaborative leaders. Position Overview The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of Fulton Academy of Science & Technology, providing strategic leadership to advance the school’s mission and vision. This dynamic leader will oversee both instructional and operational functions, lead sustainable financial strategies, cultivate key external partnerships, and ensure educational excellence across all grade levels. The Executive Director is responsible for aligning all aspects of the organization to ensure cohesive implementation of the school’s vision while focusing on strategic development, financial stewardship, external partnerships, and organizational effectiveness. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with strong management experience, business acumen, fundraising capabilities, and a commitment to building educational excellence. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & School Management Set and execute a compelling vision for FAST that aligns with our charter mission and ensures continuous improvement in academic outcomes and operational efficiency Manage both the instructional and operational functions of the school, ensuring cohesive alignment between academic programs and school operations Lead and support the Principal in matters related to academic programs, curriculum development, student performance and professional development initiatives Lead and support the Chief Financial Officer in matters related to finance, facilities, human resources, and non-instructional operations Lead the development and implementation of the school’s strategic plan, establishing clear goals, metrics, and accountability systems Analyze organizational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to inform strategic decisions Build organizational capacity to support current operations and future growth Build and maintain a positive school culture that promotes high expectations, innovation, and a deep commitment to student success Oversee long-term facilities planning, expansion initiatives, and capital improvements Facilitate communication and collaboration between academic and operational departments Serve as the primary liaison to the School Governing Board, managing board relations and supporting governance processes Financial Leadership & Resource Development Provide executive oversight of the school’s financial management, including budget development, monitoring, and long-term financial planning Develop and implement sustainable funding strategies to ensure the school’s long-term viability and growth Manage diverse funding streams by identifying and securing grant opportunities from Fulton County, public, private, and foundation sources to support school initiatives and innovation Design and execute fundraising campaigns that engage the school community and external stakeholders Create and maintain strategic partnerships with corporations, universities, and community organizations to leverage resources and enhance educational opportunities Direct the development of financial reports and analyses for the board, charter authorizer, and other stakeholders Work with the Chief Financial Officer to optimize resource allocation and financial performance External Relations & Partnership Development Serve as the primary external representative and ambassador for FAST to community, business & local government stakeholders Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, community members, and other key stakeholders Cultivate and manage strategic corporate/enterprise partnerships that align with FAST’s STEAM focus and provide resources, expertise, and opportunities Develop relationships with philanthropic organizations, foundations, and major donors to support school initiatives Partner with the Principal to represent the school at community events, charter school networks, and educational conferences Establish collaborations with universities, research institutions, and technology companies to enhance educational programming Lead marketing and communication strategies to promote the school’s mission, vision, and achievements Engage with charter school networks and advocacy organizations to stay abreast of Charter School developments and best practices Operations & Compliance Management Oversee all operational aspects of the school, including facilities, technology, transportation & food services Ensure compliance with all charter requirements, state regulations, legal obligations, and regulatory standards Oversee charter renewal preparation, compliance reporting, and relationship management with authorizers (Fulton County Schools) Partner with HR Director to develop strategies for recruitment, hiring, evaluation, retention of high-quality staff, benefits administration, compensation planning, and HR policy development Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote school safety, efficiency, and excellence Oversee student enrollment and retention strategies to maintain optimal school capacity Board & Governance Support Work collaboratively with the Governing Board to support effective governance practices Provide the Governing Board with timely and comprehensive information needed for strategic decision-making Support board committee work and special initiatives Facilitate board development and training opportunities Help recruit and onboard new board members with diverse expertise and perspectives Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree Minimum of 5 years of administrative experience in K-12 education, preferably in charter or STEAM-focused schools Demonstrated success in fiscal management and budget oversight in an educational setting Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, and securing sponsorships Experience developing and managing partnerships with corporations, foundations, and community organizations Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and data-driven decision making Proven ability to lead and manage diverse teams toward ambitious goals Preferred Master’s degree in Education, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred) Strong knowledge of charter school operations, funding mechanisms, and regulatory environment Experience with strategic planning and successful implementation of school improvement initiatives Track record of successful grant acquisition and management Experience working with school boards and charter authorizers Knowledge of Georgia education policies and charter school regulations
