The Homeroom Specialist is the primary point of contact for assigned students/families for non-instructional matters. The role helps foster and monitor a high touch approach to educational support and exhibits a commitment and desire to provide the best experience possible for students and families. They ensure that the family is being contacted monthly (at minimum). As well as address family concerns and direct them to the appropriate staff member to resolve the concern. This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees a caseload of students assigned act as the primary point of contact with the school Monitors student participation and works to contact students who do not attend; (Using the Guided Outreach “GO” Box to identify SS struggles); Specifically, the green students as indicated by the GO box Monitor students’ progress using the Online School and Online Middle and High School trackers. Ensures that students receive an enduring connection call monthly from a staff member, if none has been made, they will contact the students Provides a reactive response to students who reach out for support; Provides ongoing re-registration support; Serves as a liaison along with the Advisors, between the student, Learning Coach and teachers to ensure that all school personnel understand how to contact and communicate with the student in a manner that builds ties between the student and the school for students in the green categories of the GO box; Hosts weekly/bi-weekly virtual hangouts for assigned to students to promote social-emotional engagement. Initiates meaningful contact by phone with students and their Learning Coach; Participates in the live online orientation sessions; Increases professional knowledge and skills by attending required staff meetings; participating in school and K12 sponsored Professional Development and seeking other professional learning opportunities. Maintain accurate documentation of student performance, progress, needs, and academic supports provided (including report cards and/or progress reports) Conduct home visits for students who have been escalated to tier 3. Assisting the School Attendance Specialist (SAS) with attendance data as needed. Minimum Required Qualifications Two (2) years of college AND Two (2) years of experience in education OR Equivalent combination of education and related experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills; Excellent problem-solving skills; Organizations skills, multi-tasking abilities; Customer service focus; Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced work environment; Experience coordinating academically-oriented clubs and extracurricular activities; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Web proficiency; Familiarity with the online learning experience; Ability to travel 25% of the time; Ability to pass required background check.

DESIRED Qualifications:

Experience working with the proposed age group; Experience supporting adults and children in learning and the use of technology; An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g. database and web-based tools);
