Line of Authority:

Directly responsible to the Chief of Teaching, Learning and Leading for matters pertaining to curriculum and to the building principals for matters pertaining to the building and to the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designees.

Statement of Duties:

Works with building administrators to effect an optimum learning climate for all students that promotes positive student interactions, learning, and quality curriculum.
Supervises classroom instruction and evaluates teachers in assigned curricular areas according to performance standards.
Provides direction and training with the following

Massachusetts Frameworks:

Science, Technology & Engineering Frameworks (2016), and Digital Literacy & Computer Science (2016)
Analyzes student performance data for district and school-level year-to-year trends
Provides professional development and coaching to teachers and school leaders regarding student performance data, including both aggregate and subgroup populations, with state and in-district assessments and makes recommendations on curricular revision, instructional adjustments, and accommodations to meet the needs of all learners.
Facilitates the integration of computer and related technology with existing core curricula and with the Curriculum of the Massachusetts State Frameworks.
Works with the building technology teachers, technicians and support staff to provide training for the staff in the use of relevant technology.
Works with the school and business community to build support for the technology program in the
Conducts parent and community presentations on the uses of technology in curriculum and instruction.
Provides leadership for curriculum, instruction, assessments, student achievement, and program evaluation in grades K-12.
Works closely with the Supervisor of

CTE, HHS

leadership, and middle school leadership to maintain the 5-12 pipeline for effective college & career education
Provides leadership for interdisciplinary teaching/learning structures.
Oversees, plans and coordinates professional development in curriculum and instruction specifically in science and technology
Conducts demonstration lessons with students in classroom situations for observation by teachers.
Coordinates curricular revision as part of the district’s curriculum cycle.
Provides leadership in the selection of high quality instructional resources and textbook options.
Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of state and federal grants and reports.
Work with other supervisors to implement state and federal grant initiatives including data collection, resource inventory, and professional development.
Assists with the development of content area assessments and the implementation of new methods for measuring student achievement.
Works with other administrators to assist grade 9 students with course selections.
Assists in the supervision of school activities.
Works with the Director of Guidance & Student Support Services to coordinate all local, state, and national testing.
Works with the Guidance Department on student and teacher schedules.
Participates in the staff selection process.
Develops and maintains the annual budget for assigned curricular areas.
Apprises staff of current research, programs, methods, and materials in content specific areas.
Works to assist in coordination of State testing
Attends weekly leadership meetings at the high school.
Networks with state and regional policy and instructional leaders in science and technology
Assumes general duties as directed by Superintendent of Schools and the policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Works the requisite hours needed to meet the responsibilities of the aforementioned job description and be responsible for other instructional and general duties as indicated by the directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.

Qualifications:

Licensed as a Supervisor / Director by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education – REQUIRED
Minimum of Master’s Degree in content areas.- REQUIRED
Can demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience at the middle or high school level.
Administrative experience preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of computer technology (including spreadsheets and presentation technologies), supervision, and administration.
Graduate course work in curriculum and development.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
