Job Description

Responsibilities of the Assistant Principal
Support and uphold the district’s vision, mission, and core values.
Assist and partner with the principal in all aspects of school leadership and decision-making.
Prioritize student academic achievement, foster inclusive learning environments, and support students’ social and emotional development.
Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with students, staff, and families.
Collaborate with the principal in the implementation of the educator evaluation system.
Coordinate daily school operations, including scheduling, safety protocols, and student routines for arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess.
Implement and monitor the school’s Discipline Code of Conduct; collaborate with the principal to revise policies as needed.
Promote and utilize Restorative Practices to support student behavior and community building.
Maintain a high level of visibility and accessibility throughout the school building and grounds.
Organize and oversee MCAS testing, including test scheduling, coordination, and compliance with all state-mandated reporting requirements.
Represent the principal at professional meetings and community events in their absence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a school principal/assistant principal. A minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience. Ashland values diversity and is committed to diversifying our professional staff.
