FUNCTION

To assume the responsibilities of a Team Leader, working collaboratively with the Building Principal.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as the curriculum and instructional leader of the department/grade level. Serve as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT). Use the data inquiry cycle to analyze data (e.g., MCAS, common assessments, benchmarks, diagnostic assessments) and identify instructional needs. Schedule and conduct team meetings. Prepare agendas for and documentation of all team meetings. Schedule and moderate team meetings with parents. Coordinate the distribution and collection of parent-requested student progress reports. Act as liaison between the team, parents, the guidance department and the administration. Develop and document common practices among team members. Familiarize new teachers and substitute teachers with the school program and team practices and procedures. Coordinate practices and procedures between own team and other teams. Mediate conflicts and differences between team members Attend weekly after-school meetings with other team leaders and the administration. Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee. During the 2025-2026 school year, the duties and responsibilities of this position will remain aligned with past practice. It is understood that the duties and responsibilities may be adjusted throughout the year, to meet the opportunities presented by a new schedule and to meet the needs of students. This posting will be revised for the 2026-2027 school year, to more accurately represent the duties and responsibilities and increase alignment with other stipend teacher leadership positions at different levels.

EXPERIENCE

Preferably a member of the Middle School teaching staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Be a member of one of the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grade teams. Complete two or more years as a middle school teacher. Possess the ability to conduct meetings and to build strong professional relationships with team members. Display leadership ability.

Salary:

BTA Contract $4,000
