Clerk – Assistant Principal Fitchburg School District 376 South Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420 Clerk –

Assistant Principal Job Summary:

The Clerk-Assistant Principal provides a high level of administrative and operational support to the assistant principal. This is a 10-month (190 days) position located at the high school.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, advanced degree preferred; Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing in English; Ability to communicate in a language other than English preferred; Ability to navigate through various computer programs while multitasking and responding to school-based needs; Works cooperatively and effectively in a team environment; Ability to recognize and resolve discrepancies with minimal assistance; Must possess excellent organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines; Ability to use various technologies, including expert proficiency of word processing, data management, information retrieval, telecommunications, and database and spreadsheet programs, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office suite and/or Google Docs; Experience with software that may be utilized in a school district, including but not limited to Aspen/X2, MUNIS, TalentEd, PowerSchool, etc. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment to support daily operations; Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work collaboratively; Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children to effectively problem solve; Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; Belief in the commitment to increasing personal growth, both academic and social-emotional, to obtain the highest level of achievement for every student.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The Clerk-Assistant Principal will: Assist students and staff in the absence of the AP; direct inquiries, etc. Answer phones and direct calls to the appropriate locations; Complete suspension hearing and determination letters for School Administration (including in-school suspension); Monitor and maintain accurate student attendance in collaboration with parent phone calls, teachers, guidance counselors, and school administration; Process withdrawals during the school year according to established protocols; Provide the SIMS clerk with accurate data to process withdrawals in Aspen; Prepare student attendance letters through ConnectEd, Email, or US Mail (when applicable); Distribution of progress reports and report cards to their appropriate grade levels; Keep a copy of all student emergency forms in their offices and give all originals to the nurses’ office; Update student transportation notes in Aspen for their appropriate grade levels. Support and assist with district security procedures. Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

190 days (10 months) As negotiated by the Fitchburg School Committee and the Fitchburg Education Association (FEA).
